Charity Evacuations
As we are a non-profit organisation, the money not used in evacuating our members is used to undertake charity evacuations. Over the past 5 years since 2006, we have carried out an average of 40 evacuations every year.
Outreach Programmes
The Flying Doctors Society of Africa funds Medical Outreach Programmes which serve more than 150 rural hospitals in Eastern Africa region. The objective of this is to treat patients who would not otherwise have access to the care they need and to train local health teams in extremely rural areas to carry out this work themselves in the future.
Fistula Program
The aim of the fundraising campaign is to have everyone at least donate to help us treat 300 women within this year for free and raise awareness on Fistula as a dehumanizing condition that is treatable. Female Genital Fistula is a debilitating condition that can affect any woman who goes through prolonged or obstructed labour who develop an abnormal hole between the rectum and vagina leading to urine or stool incontinence. This intervention strives to reduce the effects of an untreated fistula to the women such as stigma, discrimination, isolation, poverty, psychological disorder and family breakdown enabling the women to contribute to community’s growth.
